Have you reviewed your Outbreak Communication Plan recently? Use our checklist to review your plan.

Regular communication with key stakeholders during an outbreak will instil confidence in your organisation and reduce anxiety for clients, residents and their family members. A documented Outbreak Communications Plan is critical to successfully providing coordinated, timely, transparent and appropriate information to stakeholders across multiple communication channels.

There's no one-size-fits-all approach for residential aged care organisations as the diversity of stakeholder groups requires a tailored approach to ensure relevant messaging. Providing the right messaging at the right time to the right audience will assist your organisation in maintaining a trusted relationship with your stakeholders.

Over the last year, many providers have managed multiple outbreaks. Completing a debrief with your outbreak management team when each outbreak is declared over can be challenging when internal resources are over-stretched.

With the emerging surge of Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariant infections, we recommend resources are allocated to review and update your outbreak management plan. This review should include auditing the alignment of your Outbreak Communication Plan with your Outbreak Management Plan.
